Wow! Those jelly roll race quilts do go together fast! Going to do a small border in black, then yellow hawkeye fabric. Found some extra pinwheels left over can use in the corners too! Even found flannel Iowa material & will be enough to use on the backing. I should go digging through my totes more often! Found a bunch of other fabric & patterns & kits I forgot I had bought!
Excited to spend the start of the long holiday weekend in my sewing room! Once I get the side borders assembled this one will be ready for quilting! Plan is to have it quilted at the local Pella store. I really like this top, & it went together fast since I let the fabric do most the work, not much piecing together.
Started another UFO! Was in the mood to stitch not trim, so the Storm At Sea was put on hold. This is going to be a Christmas gift for my dad. Not following the pattern exactly as it needs to be longer since he is so tall. I want out to cover his feet! Still need to stitch the letters down, but a good start.
So excited to see this quilt come together! Need to square up the blocks then start the row assembly! Won't get much done tomorrow because going to pick up my new (to me) Jeep!
And I've stated on the diamonds! Really liking how this one is turning out. If I work on a few a day I should have top together in about 2 weeks!

Finished the small blocks for my Storm At Sea Christmas quilt! Started the big squares, and already about half way through them!
Started cutting the pieces for my next project from the star shaped fat quarters I got at Yoders Dept Store in Indiana (so pretty!). Making a small lap quilt with the Storm at Sea pattern. I might try to hand quilt this one. Marys quilts inspired me and I've checked out some YouTube videos so might give it a try. Could end up only partially hand quilted, & the rest machine done, we'll see!
Another project completed! I had most of this top pieced at the end of last week, but finished it of today. With 2 projects done today, I should spend some time cleaning or doing something else this evening... We'll see, I guess. ;)
After all the driving this weekend, I'm happy to spend my day at my sewing machine! Finished a quick apron this morning. Hoping to finish my wall quilt this afternoon!
Celebrated Ryan's Grandma's 100th birthday this weekend! She showed me the beautiful hand pieced & hand quilted quilts she had done. So wish my cell battery had not died so I could have taken some pictures! One was a large bed sized hexagon quilt, each hexagon was the size of a dime! She no longer quilts and since I'm the only one in the family that does, she gave me her pattern collection. Plan today to spend time pouring over the books/magazines!
Finally finished mom's mini flag quilt just in time for a thank you gift for her for house sitting (& dog sitting 6 kids) this weekend. We'll be away for Ryans Grandmas 100th birthday party.... We'll also be hitting a few quilt shops along the way!
Watermelon quilt is sewn into rows, need to get backing material before go any further. So might stop at quilt shop tomorrow. Pulled out the rows I had done (then lost where I put it) for mom's flag mini quilt. It was going to be a mothers day present till I lost it. Got the rows together, put on border and started the quilting. About half way done when I stopped for the day. Will finish it this week! It'll be a nice gift to thank her for house sitting for us in 2 weeks!
Finished the blocks for the 1st watermelon quilt this am! 3 extra blocks left over, will make a table runner from those.
Either I'm crazy or something, but started another quilt. Really should be getting the binding on the 1st tshirt quilt so I have 1 less UFO, but starting a new one sounded more fun. ;)
Got the back of the t shirt quilt rows all sewn together & have it tied front to back! The binding is ready to be sewn on too! Probably will wait till next week to do that. Worked a little on the dizzy geese, I have 200 + flying geese done! Getting close to having that part done!
Did quick paper piecing heart tonight. This block I'll make into a mug rug for the office auction this fall.
I got 3 boxes full of Harley tshirts from my brother with a request to make 2 tshirt quilts. Got the top done on the first one. Back is sewn into rows, but its so hot up in my quilting room, I think I'm done for today.
Was hoping to get more done this extended weekend, but didn't turn out that way due to sunburn & catching a cold. :(
Really think mom will like this one! Plus the hanger is just too cute too!
I think I'm getting quicker at making these now, don't have to read the instructions multiple times to make sure I have it right. :)
Another block ready for my mom's quilt, 26 more to go. I plan to have this done for Christmas. If I can get a block done every day or every other day I should finish in plenty of time. As long as I don't get too distracted with other projects!
Not finished, still need to put another red border around it. I trimmed the triangles a little of so some of my points were lost. Not too bad though. Need to get dressed & head to the car show though, so maybe will finish later tonight.
Missouri Star Quilts has the best tutorials! This is the disappearing hourglass block. Plan is to make 30 different red & white blocks in to a quilt for my mom. 28 more to go! ;)
I think this one will be mine, or could go to work as a donation for the silent auction that will be coming up later this year. ;)
Still need to add the sashing/backing/binding, but just too tired to do more today.
I have 2 (maybe 3) tshirt quilts to make yet. Got 3 boxes of Harley shirts from my brother. Have the ones for the first quilt trimmed & ready for the fusible interfacing. Won't have enough of that or batting to do the entire 1st quilt, so will need to hit the quilt shop soon! :D
Found the cutest quilt hanger on Ebay, it has a watermelon above the hanging bar. Since my hometown has Watermelon days thought I should make a quilt! Got my center block done, waiting for the hanger to arrive to known how big to make it.
Built another barn today, might keep this one for myself, or give it to my aunt to thank her for giving me her treadle sewing machine. Its a fun & fairly quick mini wall quilt to make. Maybe one day will make a full size quilt with this block. ;)
Started some blocks for my next project, a watermelon quilt. Our will probably be another mini quilt. Not sure how it will end up looking as I'm not using a pattern, but I kind of have an idea of what I want to do. ;)

I love getting Christmas gifts completed early! These two are for my dad & brother to put on their golf bags. Plan to make 2-3 more of these with different fabric for some ladies. :)
My parents drove down to drop of some stuff, including a treadle sewing machine from my aunt!
Yesterday spent some time spending money! Got some great fabric & new patterns! Started working on some "Suzy's Sacks" that will be Christmas gifts. Check out the sweet mustang saw between shops!
Found cute pattern on Pinterest for flower purse. Going quick, should be able to finish by next week. Busy weekend... more shop hopping! ;)
Took a half day of vacation from work & hit the road! Only stopped at 3 shops, but had fun & got some goodies! My list of quilts patterns to make doubled today I think! ;)
Chain stitching past few days with a few breaks to cut & press. I should be able to hit the half way mark today!
Just realized that I only need 288 flying geese, MUCH better then the 488 I thought I needed! So only 268 to go! :D
Baby steps! Just got to keep reminding myself that any progress is good & it doesn't matter how long it takes me to finish this one! ;)
I have a feeling the next quilt I've started working on will be an on again/off again project. 488 flying geese! Yikes! Pattern is Dizzy Geese & once completed should be super cute though!
Got some progress on the hexagon owl I've been working on. Can only do a few at a time, seems to pinch a nerve in my hand after a while. :(
Just finished putting the binding on! Would love to take it outside to take some pictures, but it is so windy out I doubt I could get a decent shot.
Getting so close to finishing this one! I might be posting pictures of the finished quilt sometime on Sunday! Already have planned my next project and am excited to start it. Some very pretty fabric that followed me home the other week when I ran to town for the sashing material for this one. Pattern will be from book that came in the mail this past week also!

Have 2 of my 7 rows together. Chain assembling the sashing on the rest. 17 more of those, then will start assembling the rest of the rows. Then its just sashing on 6 rows to assemble the 7 rows together, binding & DONE! :)
Ran to the Quilted Windmill yesterday to get the assembly sashing (and found more super cute fabric!). Have most of the sashing cut that I'll need. Have 3 of the blocks assembled! Today I'll be squaring up the rest of the blocks and will see how many rows I can get joined. :)
New ironing board is set in place & I've started the quilting of the blocks! 12 done so far. No travel plans for the long weekend so good chance this quilt will be close to done, out at least about ready for binding. Still need to figure out what fabric I want to use for the sashing/assembly. Might require a trip to the fabric store! ;)
This is one of my favorite parts of the process, laying everything out to see how its going to go together! Although my OCD does cause some issues when the color numbers don't break out evenly!
Got 14 more blocks done today and only have 9 left to go! Need to get my iron set up for next step of pressing them before I quilt them.
We got the sewing room painted & flooring down so now I can start organizing & sewing again! Been working on some more of the 10 minute blocks that I plan to try the quilt as you go method. Pinning them seems to take the longest time so plan to watch some TV while I pin a bunch that I have ready. 5 done only 37 more to go!
